Volunteer Treasurer
SPIRIT is a charitable organisation dedicated to advancing the highest standards of care and treatment for individuals with spinal cord injuries around the world. We focus on education, training, and knowledge-sharing for medical and para-medical professionals who support people living with spinal paralysis.
We provide grants to help healthcare professionals attend and organise conferences, learn from Centres of Excellence, and exchange skills internationally. SPIRIT also promotes vital research and collaboration between clinicians and scientists to improve outcomes and ensure that new, effective findings are shared widely.
We are now seeking a volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees and help ensure our finances remain strong, transparent, and aligned with our charitable aims.
About the Role
As Treasurer, you’ll oversee SPIRIT’s financial affairs, ensuring that our funds are well managed, our reporting is accurate, and our financial governance remains sound. Working closely with our Bookkeeper and the wider Board, you’ll help us continue to operate responsibly and sustainably as we expand our impact.
This is a voluntary trustee position, offering a rewarding opportunity to use your financial expertise to make a genuine difference to people’s lives.
What We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from someone who:
- Has experience in finance, accounting, or business management.
- Can explain financial information clearly and confidently.
- Understands (or is willing to learn about) charity finance and governance.
- Is reliable, supportive, and committed to SPIRIT’s aims and values.
This role involves attending around 4–6 Board meetings per year (in person or online), plus occasional time for reviewing reports and liaising with our Bookkeeper. Trustees are appointed for a three-year term, renewable by mutual agreement.
