Spirit trustees were deeply saddened to hear of the death of Norman Tebbit.
Lord Tebbit was dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury and he was inspired by his own experiences following the 1984 IRA bombing of the Grand Hotel in Brighton during the Conservative Party conference.
In the blast – which killed five people – his wife Margaret was left tetraplegic, paralysed from the chest down.
Lord and Lady Tebbit channelled their incredible strength and resilience to become passionate advocates for spinal injury research.
Even after her death in 2020, Lord Tebbit remained committed to securing a future for those affected by spinal cord injury paralysis.
Spirit sends sincere condolences to Lord Tebbits family at this sad time.
