H.R.H Queen Elizabeth II

H.R.H Queen Elizabeth II

September 12, 2022

he Spirit trustees were deeply saddened by the passing of H.R.H. Queen Elizabeth II.

As the longest serving British monarch, The Queen leaves behind a legacy of unwavering public service. Her support of a wide range of charities reflected her service to people from all walks of life, and she set the example of what compassion for people looks like.

Under her Majesty’s reign, the holistic UK model of service delivery for individuals with spinal cord injury underwent an unprecedented improvement of the initial management as well as the ongoing wide ranging medical and non-medical effects of the spinal cord damage from the early hours or days of injury . This resulted in significant improvement of medical and rehabilitation outcomes and life expectancy as a result of which the British model of Service Delivery became the envy of the world for almost five decades.

Everybody connected to Spirit sends sincere condolences to HRH King Charles III and the wider Royal Family at this difficult time.

Elizabeth II may not have been born to be a monarch, but once she became Queen she committed her time to duty and service to those living in the UK, the Commonwealth and the wider world.

News of her death marks the end of an era for us all, most of us never having known another monarch in our lifetime.

May Queen Elizabeth II rest in peace.

God save the King.
