Martin McClelland FRCS

Martin McClelland FRCS

Martin is a retired Consultant in Spinal Injuries from the Princess Royal Spinal Injuries Centre in Sheffield.

He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians.

Martin was previously the Clinical Director of the Specialised Rehabilitation Services Directorate on Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (NHS) Foundation Trust. This included Spinal Injuries, Neurorehabilitation, wheelchair services, the Gait Laboratory, amputee services & orthotics.

He was President of the British Association of Spinal Cord Injury Specialists (BASCIS) from 2012-2014 and past chairman of the UK Spinal Cord Injury Research Network.

Whilst in clinical practice, he was for some years, a trustee of the Governing Council of a national spinal injuries charity.

SPIRIT is a charity with international reach whose aim is to improve the treatment and care of people with spinal cord injury.

Spinal cord injury

SPIRIT promotes education, training and research into spinal cord injury.

SPIRIT provides grants to enable doctors, therapists, nurses, managers and other health professional to travel to centres of excellence and learn or teach new skills.
