The trustees of Spirit would like to express their concern and support for those living with spinal cord injury in the Ukraine and whose lives have been affected by the war with Russia.
The war in Ukraine has had a huge impact on thousands of people. People have been forced to flee their homes, to leave their friends and families and their communities. The pictures that we have all seen on the news showing people fleeing and in fear of their lives have been disturbing and traumatic.
We think at this time of those people who live in the Ukraine with a disability, particularly a spinal cord injury.
Leaving your home when you have a disability and when you rely on medication and aids and equipment is much more difficult.
Much of the Ukrainian public transport is not accessible to wheelchair users so evacuating towns and cities has been very hard.
The Spirit trustees would like to remember all those with a spinal cord injury living around the world and to express our support for them in times of war, conflict or persecution.
