Sensibility is lost over the whole sole and outer aspect of the foot below the outer
ankle, heel and middle aspect of the calf as well as posterior part of the thighs and saddle
area. However, the hollow of the knee is sensitive due to overlap from L3, L4 and L5
segments.
In 82 lesions the pes calcaneum is no longer present, as gastrocnemius and soleus
are functioning, but the patient is not able to stand on his toes due to the paralysis of the
long flexors and intrinsic muscles of the toes. There is full extension and abduction of the
