with the ileal loop.
Since 1944 we have pursued a conservative approach to the management of vesico-
ureteric reflux, in particular in grades I and II—i.e. light and moderate degrees of reflux
without or with light or moderate dilatation of the upper urinary tract. For, reflux may
disappear by proper bladder training—i.e. correlation of fluid intake and voiding at
regular intervals and combating infection. Hardy (1963) described patients who had
reflux for many years, amongst them one patient with reflux of 17 years duration, without
harmful effects. He has also seen bilateral reflux occurring and recurring and resolving
