piece rejoined the upper anterior border of the body and formed a spontaneous fusion
with the upper adjacent vertebra. Note the narrowing of the intervertebral space between
the previously dislocated vertebra and its adjacent upper neighbour. A later X-ray showed
a good anterior bony fusion between the reduced vertebra and its upper neighbour,
forming an exostosis at its anterior distal margin to join the upper anterior border of the
damaged vertebra. This is another example of the activity of the natural forces of repair
so inherent in the human organism. Neurological symptomatology: the initially com
plete motor paraplegia below L2 with some patchy sensory paralysis below Ti2 greatly
improved. On last check up on 27 September 1970 ileopsoas, quadriceps and adductors
were strong, biceps, gluteal muscles weak. Walks with calipers. Employed in light
engineering.
